How Can You Help?

Volunteering

The outpouring of generosity to the victims of the Babb Road Fire has been heartening to the residents who were affected by the fire. The Pine Creek Community appreciates the gift of time and money.

Together we will rebuild the towns of Malden and Pine City.

If you are an individual or group who would like to volunteer, please email our Volunteer Coordinator.  You can also call the office during regular business hours:  509-508-9806.

Meet Doug, Volunteer Coordinator

Pine Creek Community Restoration is pleased to announce that Doug Arlt is serving as the long-term recovery group’s Volunteer Coordinator.

Doug has lived on the Palouse since 1995 and is employed at Schweitzer Engineering Labs as a Senior Engineering Manager.

For over ten years, Doug volunteered with Palouse Habitat for Humanity, serving as chair of the Family Selection Committee chair, and then as chair of the Board of Directors. Doug says that one of the lasting lessons he learned during that time was the importance of volunteering as a means toward a healthy community.

“At Habitat, people of all social, economic, racial, political, etc. backgrounds come together for a common good.” says Doug.  “Volunteering pulls a community together.”

In 2018, with Palouse Habitat for Humanity thriving, Doug started looking for his next challenge.  Recognizing the value of volunteering, and how difficult it can be to find organizations to serve, Doug founded his own nonprofit — Inspired Volunteering.  Inspired Volunteering is dedicated to motivating many more people to volunteer and to connect them with one of the many great organizations in the region.

Anyone interested in helping our neighbors in Malden and Pine City in the aftermath of the 2020 Babb Road wildfire, please contact Doug so he can connect you with the right opportunity!
